James Reyes-Picknell has been awarded the prestigious 2016 Sergio Guy Memorial Award by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC).
The award recognizes individuals who have made significant and valuable contributions to the profession of maintenance and physical asset management, and to PEMAC (Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada). The Award was presented at MainTrain, PEMAC’s annual awards banquet on September 21, 2016 in Toronto.
Through his work, contacts, publications and presentations, Reyes-Picknell was recognized as a thought leader in the area of maintenance, reliability and asset management. His career, spanning over 35 years, includes leading a global consulting practice (PwC / IBM), contract engineering and reliability consulting, leading the support efforts for aircraft and a major warship program, working hands-on in a plant reliability and maintenance engineering role and serving as a shipboard engineering officer.
Reyes-Picknell has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, post grad studies in business and naval architecture, in addition to dozens of industrial and corporate training courses. He is currently the president of “Conscious Asset,” a specialist consulting and training firm.
Reyes-Picknell has also given back to the profession through volunteer contributions to PEMAC and other like-minded professional associations. Reyes-Picknell is a member of the GTA chapter of PEMAC and participated last year in developing a PEMAC white paper for the membership entitled Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) KPIs for Measuring Success. Over the past year he has also been an active member of PEMAC Body of Knowledge project team, and also served actively on the MainTrain committee.
Reyes-Picknell was also one of the original instructors teaching the MMP program at Durham College in Oshawa, Ont., and has authored and edited the second and third editions of “Uptime,” the popular maintenance reference text for PEMAC’s Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) Module 1 Course.
